What are they Symptoms of Caregiver Burnout?

Caregiver burnout is a real and serious concern. To avoid potential problems, be alert to the signs and symptoms of burnout, and seek help as soon as you notice any of the following:

  • Depression
  • Changes in sleeping patterns
  • Irritability and anger
  • Fatigue
  • Skipping meals
  • Avoiding breaks or rest periods
  • Taking on more work in spite of fatigue
  • Feeling guilty
  • Drinking too much or using drugs inappropriately
  • Persistent resentment or apathy toward your child
  • Panic attacks
  • Loss of interest in life
  • Loss of emotional control - crying or temper outbursts
  • Physical abuse
